A solemn undergraduate graduation ceremony was held at the Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University (TSU) on July 28. TSU Rector, Academician Vladimer Papava, Minister of Education and Science of Georgia, Tamar Sanikidze, members of the Academic Council, faculty deans, representatives of academic circles and invited guests attended the event.
TSU Rector, Academician Vladimer Papava congratulated undergraduates on their graduation: “The idea of the university is immortal; the university will always stay with you. Being a TSU graduate is a certain responsibility to past and future generations. You are the face of the University of this epoch. Wherever you are, the university will always stay with you.”
“The fact that today you completed your baccalaureate studies is a guarantee of your future success. Education is the best place for investments. Do not get away from the university; deepen your knowledge,” Minister of Education and Science of Georgia, Tamar Sanikidze addressed the undergraduates gathered in the university courtyard.
“Four years spent at the university have brought big changes and novelties in my life from both professional and personal points of view. I am glad that I have got acquainted with a lot of educated people with different aspirations. I wish success to all graduates; I wish them to properly use the knowledge acquired at the university and what is most important, I wish them to live in a peaceful country that is mostly up to us, the youth,” one of the successful TSU graduates, Ana Sharashenidze said.
In 2015 up to 3000 BA students completed their studies. This year’s graduation ceremony included the first graduating class from the newly created Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences.
A concert by Newton band was held by the end of the event.
Over 200 accredited educational programs are implemented at seven faculties of TSU with over 20 000 students undergoing their studies there. During the 2015-2016 academic year, 3635 students will be enrolled to the Tbilisi State University.
