Cognitive Literary Competition Winner Revealed

The award ceremony for the cognitive literary competition “Generation L” was held at the Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University (TSU). TSU Rector, Academician Vladimer Papava, students, professors and invited guests attended the event.

About 400 students participated in the project. Project consultant, MP Levan Berdzenishvili revealed the winner – Anano Aspanidze, student of the Faculty of Economics and Business, who was awarded the main prize established by the project partner – Palitra L Publishing.

“I participated in the competition, because I love reading very much. I was eager to win and I am so glad and happy that I have won. I chose GEL 1000 as a prize, because I already have most of the books that were designed as gifts. I will buy other books with this money,” Anano Aspanidze said.
TSU Rector Vladimer Papava said: “It is very important for the university to have relations with publishers, especially with those that publish fiction. This project has been initiated by our students and it is supported by Palitra L. This is an excellent project. It would be important to involve as many students in similar project as possible.”

“Unfortunately, number of readers is not increasing in Georgia. We are concerned not about decreasing number of readers, but about the fact that the structure of reading has changed – young people do not read fiction any more. With this project we want to attract young people’s attention. Similar competitions are very important in order to reveal people, who believe that literary knowledge is a good thing. Education is something that will never get away from the invented world. I am glad that we have a very beautiful winner and I am sure that this competition will be continued,” project consultant, MP Levan Berdzenishvili said.

“As a rule, Palitra L Publishing promotes the popularization of reading in the society and actively works with students in this regard. In this particular case, the interests of TSU and Palitra L Publishing coincided with each other that, in my opinion, had a very interesting continuation. The results exceeded our expectations. We did not expect so many students to show their interest towards the competition,” Head of Marketing Service of Palitra L Publishing, Maka Kevlishvili said.
GEL 1000 or a book shelf with 100 books was established as a prize. All finalists received special prizes from the Tbilisi State University and Palitra L Publishing.
