A delegation from the Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University (TSU) visited the University of Warsaw on invitation of Rector Marcin Pałys.
The sides discussed the format of future collaboration between TSU and the University Warsaw, as well as higher educational reforms and challenges. TSU Rector, Academician Vladimer Papava, Deputy Rectors, Prof. Ioseb Salukvadze and Prof. Darejan Tvaltvadze focused on the possibilities of expanding cooperation between the partner universities in scientific and educational spheres. History, archaeology, ethnology, anthropology, economics and geography were identified as the priority areas of cooperation.
During the visit TSU Rector, Vladimer Papava delivered a public lecture for academic staff and PhD students of the Faculty of Economics at the University of Warsaw. The lecture was followed by a discussion.
The delegation from TSU visited the Center of New Technologies at the University of Warsaw, which is an interdisciplinary educational and scientific research institution. After meeting with the representatives of the Center, the TSU delegation visited scientific laboratories equipped with modern technologies.
The Georgian delegation also visited the Center for East European Studies at the University of Warsaw. During the meeting an initiative was unveiled to introduce a joint research scholarship. The meeting was followed by a presentation of the book by Dr. Davit Kolbaia. Rector Papava addressed the audience and congratulated the Georgian scientist on his success.
The TSU delegation participated in the events commemorating those professors from the University of Warsaw, including St. Grigol Peradze, who died during the WWII.
Georgian Ambassador to Poland, Nikoloz Nikolozishvili also attended the meetings.
