Dr. Martin Pätzold, member of the German Bundestag’s Christian Democratic Union/Christian Social Union (CDU/CSU) met with students from the Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University (TSU) on June 19. First Deputy Rector Levan Aleksidze also attended the meeting.
TSU First Deputy Rector Levan Aleksidze said that “Dr. Martin Pätzold is quite an influential person in the German Bundestag; he is a member of one of the main parties and he has been instructed to visit the Caucasian countries, particularly Armenia and Georgia, and to clarify the situation on the ground, to study the attitudes and views of their population, especially the youth. Much depends on his reports. The fact that he himself decided to visit our university talks about much.”
“It is very important for me to know what young people think, what they think about EU integration and generally about Georgia’s future. Also it is very important to assure both Georgia and Armenia to aspire towards European integration,” Dr. Martin Pätzold said.
Dr. Martin Pätzold permanently prepares and submits reports to the German Bundestag on Georgia and Armenia. During the meeting with TSU students, he delivered a brief report that was followed by a discussion.
