The Team from Tbilisi State University Won National Round of the International Criminal Court Moot Court Competition

On February 19, 2017, the national selection round of the International Criminal Court (ICC) Moot Court was held at the Supreme Court of Georgia. The team from Tbilisi State University won the national round and therefore has been qualified to perform at the international rounds to be held in The Hague, Netherlands from 14 to 19 May, 2017.
National selection round for the ICC Moot Court was held for the first time in Georgia and totally three teams from three Georgian universities took part in it. The event was organized and supported by the Open Society Foundation. 

Students pleaded before the competent jury as prosecutors, defence counsels and victims’ representatives. Issues discussed during the pleadings were related to the important topics of international law, such as legitimacy of government, genocide and child soldiers.

Members of the TSU team are students of the law faculty Giorgi Nakashidze, Giorgi Baidze, Mariam Bezhanishvili and Davit Javakhishvili; the coach of the team is assistant of the International Law Institute of the law faculty – Saba Pipia.
