UK Minister for Europe David Lidington and Georgian State Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration Alexi Petriashvili met with students from the Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University.
During the meeting the guests discussed the issues of EU-Georgia cooperation, EU integration process, significance of signing the Association Agreement with EU, also including the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area.
UK Minister for Europe David Lidington said that the meeting was very interesting and the participants focused on a wide range of issues, including Ukrainian developments and Georgia’s Association Agreement with the European Union. He expressed hope that the Association Agreement would be signed in June that would largely promote economic growth in the country.
“We spoke about the perspectives of Georgia’s integration into the European Union, as well as the significance of signing the Association Agreement. We also discussed the developments in Ukraine and regional security issues. We also spoke about Georgia’s territorial integrity and the upcoming NATO Summit,” Georgian State Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration Alexi Petriashvili said.
Vice Rector Levan Aleksidze described the visit as “very serious” and added: “The fact that such high-ranking guests visit our university confirms that our audience seems very interesting to them.”
A question and answer session was held by the end of the meeting.
