Parliament’s Vice Speaker Meets Students

First Vice Speaker of the Parliament, Tamar Chugoshvili held a meeting with students at Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University (TSU) on May 14. She delivered a public lecture “The Role of the Parliament in Public Administration” and touched upon the recent developments in Tbilisi.

Rector of TSU, Giorgi Sharvashidze and academic staff also attended the meeting. During a question and answer session, Chugoshvili listened to students’ questions and positions about recent developments in the capital and answered to them.

The Parliament’s Vice Speaker also spoke about the experience of the first republic noting that 100 years ago Georgia was one of the most European countries with the declared values later shared by many European countries. She said that the meeting with TSU students was planned to discuss the Parliament’s role. “But the today’s topic is very important and interesting, considering that the current situation is very tense with respect to various topics which are interesting to the youth,” Chugoshvili noted.   

“Students actively got involved in the discussion and expressed their opinions about the current situation in the country and the perspectives of its development. A lot of interesting issues were discussed. The meeting was held in frames of the 100th anniversary of the First Democratic Republic. TSU has already hosted a lot of important and interesting lectures,” Rector Giorgi Sharvashidze said.

The discussion was held within the framework of a series of public lectures and the 100th anniversary of the First Democratic Republic.
