A solemn MA graduation ceremony was held at the Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University (TSU) on September 9. TSU Rector, Academician Vladimer Papava, Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Georgia, Ketevan Natriashvili, Defense Minister of Georgia, Tinatin Khidasheli, representatives of academic circles congratulated postgraduate students on completion of their master’s degrees.
TSU Rector, Academician Vladimer Papava said: “Each step is important in human life. Master’s degree program is a very important stage of higher education. We are proud of our postgraduate students. I am sure that they will become a serious potential for our country and actively participate in various fields of state-building.”
“For me the most important status is the status of a TSU alumnus. This university has played the most important role in my life. I wish you to be soundly critical and appreciate the opportunities offered by the university. I wish you huge success and a lot of freedom. Your knowledge, enthusiasm, energy is very much needed in our country,” Georgian Defense Minister Tina Khidasheli said.
“I have a special attitude towards this university because I am an alumnus of this university. A new stage begins in a person’s life after completion of postgraduate studies. Postgraduate students are ready, they have relevant knowledge to get involved in the process of development of our country,” Deputy Education Minister Ketevan Natriashvili said.
“When I first entered this building, it was not clear in which direction I would go and this process is still underway, but the university has changed the main thing: just here I learnt what it means to think and how it is possible to be established as an independent person. Some characteristics that I found in myself are a huge achievement of these years. I want to thank everyone, especially our professors, because relations with each of them helped me gain unrepeatable experience and no matter how I will proceed towards the future, I will always remember that I am a TSU alumnus,” Nino Aptsiauri, a postgraduate student, said.
A concert by a Goofyland band was held by the end of the event.
90 master’s degree programs are implemented at TSU. About 800 students completed their master’s degrees at the Tbilisi State University in 2015.
