On 17 July, at 17:00 the Fifth Student Conference on “Contemporary Challenges in Fight Against International Crime” was held at Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University (TSU I Building, 107 Ivane Javakhishvili Room). The Conference was organized and hosted by International Law Institute of Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University.
The Conference was dedicated to World Day for International Justice, also known as International Criminal Justice Day. It is noteworthy that on 17 July 1998 Statute of International Criminal Court was opened for signature in Rome. Today more than 120 countries are parties to the Statute.
This day is annually celebrated by the International Law Institute of Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University.
Within the framework of 2015 Conference students’ works discussed the issues of:
•Crime of aggression and effectiveness of possible response mechanisms towards it;
•Responsibility of states, international organizations/peacekeepers and private companies for committing international crime;
•Minor in international criminal justice system;
•Challenges to International Criminal Court activities.
It is noteworthy that within the framework of the Conference some participants were directly involved from various European countries. They presented their works by using modern technologies.
At the end of the Conference awarding ceremony was organized. Students were awarded with certificates for comprehensive research and successful presentation. Furthermore, best student works are to be published in International Law Journal.
