TSU Pro, a team from the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, beat Del Mar from the Faculty of Exact and Natural Sciences on penalties (1:1 (4:2)) in the Mini Football Tournament of Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University (TSU). Rector of TSU, Giorgi Sharvashidze handed over a cup to the winner. Luka Tavzarashvili, student from the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, was named as the best player; Giorgi Sanadze and Sandro Sheklashvili (both from Del Mar) were named as the best goalkeeper and the best striker, respectively. Maglivi Real from the Faculty of Economics and Business took the third place in the tournament. Rector Sharvashidze, Chancellor Nunu Ovsianikova and students attended the final match in mini football.
“First of all, I want to thank TSU for organizing this tournament. It helps young people to have a healthy lifestyle. The best footballer nomination came as a surprise to me. I also want to thank my team,” Luka Tavzarashvili said.
Irakli Kharjevanidze, the head of the TSU Department of Culture and Sport, said that “the university hosts mini football tournaments twice a year and students are always very active. Similar events should be held at the university frequently as young people, first and foremost, need to have healthy lifestyle. Today, everyone, who participated in the tournament, is a winner.”
The tournament started on October 24 and 41 student teams participated in it. The tournament was organized by the TSU Student Self-Governance.
