A new type of PhD programs will be implemented at
Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University (TSU) in 2017. “From the
beginning of 2017, we will launch a new type of structured doctoral
school. It will be implemented with the support of the Volkswagen
Foundation. The world’s top universities will be involved in the
program,” Rector of TSU, Giorgi Sharvashidze said.
He also noted that new PhD programs will be implemented in the fields
of mathematics, digital humanities and educational management in
partnership with the Universities of Göttingen, Frankfurt and Munich. A
new PhD program in theoretical physics is also under development.
There are also some novelties in terms of BA and MA degree programs.
The Rector noted that the work is underway with the leading universities
of France and Germany over implementation of joint MA and BA programs
in tourism, European studies and economics.
