The International School of Economics (ISET) at Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University held a solemn diploma awarding ceremony on October 26. Rector of the Tbilisi State University, Academician Vladimer Papava; Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister, Giorgi Kvirikashvili; Finance Minister Nodar Khaduri; Chairman of the Supervisory Board of TBC Bank, Mamuka Khazaradze, students and invited guests attended the event.
35 students obtained their master’s degrees in economics after completion of a two-year master’s program at ISET. Summa cum laude and Cum laude honors were conferred to the masters with high academic performance. Special certificates were awarded to the authors of the best theses. Moreover, the Zurab Zhvania Prize was awarded to Irakli Shalikashvili, leader of the Class of 2015 at ISET.
TSU Rector, Vladimer Papava said: “This project is so successful that we plan to expand it by adding bachelor’s and doctoral degree programs as well. It will pave the way for creating a full-fledged English language program for economists.” Rector Papava awarded a certificate to the author of the best thesis, Archil Dvalashvili.

The ISET program is actually the best MA program in economics throughout the region. I am glad that there are a lot of my students among graduates. They completed the course successfully and I hope that they will strive to improve the economic situation in Georgia and their respective countries and spare no efforts and energy for this purpose,” Georgian Finance Minister Nodar Khaduri said.
“Today is a very emotional and important day – I became Master of Economics and a member of the ISET family and network,” ISET graduate, Nino Tedoradze said.
The participants observed a moment of silence to honor ISET students Ivlita Jibuti and Mariam Kutelia, who died as a result of flooding that hit several central parts of Tbilisi overnight on June 13-14. Georgian Foreign Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili handed over Ivlita Jibuti’s certificate for the best literary criticism to her family. Chairman of the Supervisory Board of TBC Bank, Mamuka Khazaradze handed over the watch by Georgian designer Zviad Tsikolia and Best Businessman Certificate to Atrak Voskanyan for establishing ‘USA to Yerevan’ in Armenia.
After completing their master’s program, ISET graduates will be able to continue their studies for doctoral degrees at the universities of New York, Stanford, Chicago, Pennsylvania and western countries. The knowledge and experience obtained at ISET will help them serve in leadership positions at public, private and international organizations.
