Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University (TSU) and the Technological Institute of Georgia will collaborate in the field of education and natural sciences as well as implement joint educational projects. The relevant Memorandum of Cooperation was signed by Rector of TSU, Giorgi Sharvashidze and Acting Executive Director of the Technological Institute of Georgia, Teimuraz Lomtadze on October 20.
Rector of TSU, Giorgi Sharvashidze said that the collaboration between the Tbilisi State University and the Technological Institute will be diverse. “Georgia is a small country and its resources should be used as much as possible, through collaboration. Two students from TSU will leave for Italy. It is a very good opportunity for us to utilize our scientific potential, as well as those means, which TSU has and the Technological Institute will have at disposal in the near future,” Rector Sharvashidze said.
“The Technological Institute is a scientific center created for future generations, university graduates, who will then undergo studies on MA and PhD programs and start working at the center. I hope that young people will get involved in the scientific research activities carried out at the center,” Acting Executive Director of the Technological Institute of Georgia, Teimuraz Lomtadze said.
The purpose of the Memorandum is to ensure collaboration between the parties in the fields of education and natural sciences; to offer students modern education; to promote their integration into uniform European education and scientific area.
Under the Memorandum, the parties will implement joint educational programs, basic and applied scientific research, modern experiments; they will develop university traditions through innovative research and learning; share experience in key issues of natural sciences; moreover, joint scientific practical conferences, trainings and masterclasses will also be held.
Under the Memorandum, the parties undertake to promote sharing experience in the field of education and transferring novelties on both educational and expert issues. Special emphasis will be laid on developing curricula and improving the quality of education.
The construction of the Technological Institute is financed by Cartu Foundation. Chairman of the Foundation’s Board, Nikoloz Chkhetiani said that “the center will help Georgian scientists familiarize themselves with the achievements of foreign researchers and move Georgia to an absolutely new scientific level. The Memorandum that was signed today is a very important step on this path.”
