On May 16, Rector of Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University (TSU), Giorgi Sharvashidze awarded Diplomas of Appreciation to the members of TSU Hyundai, the university’s basketball team. TSU Hyundai has won A-League and will now compete in the 2018-2019 Super League.
Rector Sharvashidze wished the basketball players success: “A year and a half ago we made a decision to unite the basketball teams of TSU and Hyundai that proved to be a correct strategic move. I hope that TSU Hyundai will achieve a great success that our basketball players had enjoyed for years – starting from 1924, when the first basketball teams were established at the University. TSU had maintained championship for years. Therefore, we set the highest bar. I hope that this unity will help us achieve success.”
“The relations between TSU and Hyundai were established a year and a half ago. Last year we took the second place in the Super League and this year we successfully completed in A-League championship and moved to the Super League. The team worked hard to achieve this result. I am glad that TSU returned to the Super League,” Director of Hyundai Auto Georgia, Davit Giorgobiani said.
“Our team has very serious goals and I hope that in future we will continue successful movement towards the Super League. TSU Hyundai will be one of the leading teams. We will fight for becoming champions. This is our supreme goal,” Sandro Sanadze, a basketball player, said.
Rector Sharvashidze awarded TSU’s 100th Anniversary Medal to Director of Hyundai Auto Georgia, Davit Giorgobiani for his special contribution to the success of the university’s basketball team.
