The Centre for Shakespeare Studies at Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University and the Rustaveli National Theatre will organize a scientific conference dedicated to the 450th anniversary of Shakespeare’s birth.
The following broad themes are proposed to be discussed:
- Shakespeare’s influence on English literature of the next epoch
- Shakespeare’s influence on literature of other countries
- Shakespeare on stage and in movies
- Shakespeare in Georgia (translations, research, staging and filming)
- Teaching Shakespeare – problems and experience
The conference will include an exhibition and a roundtable showing the history of Shakespearean studies and performances in Georgia.
Potential participants are requested to submit a short abstract (200 words) and a short CV before 1 March, 2014 at:
