In connection with the 100th anniversary of the Democratic Republic of Georgia, Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University and the National Archives of Georgia will implement joint projects. By 2018, the National Archives of Georgia and TSU will jointly prepare and publish a trilingual (Georgian-French-English) memorial album dedicated to President of the first government of the Democratic Republic of Georgia, Noe Ramishvili. The relevant Memorandum of Cooperation was signed by Rector of TSU, Giorgi Sharvashidze and Director General of the National Archives of Georgia, Teona Iashvili on October 18.
Rector of TSU, Giorgi Sharvashidze said that the university will continue its collaboration with the National Archives in several directions. A trilingual album dedicated to President of the first government of the Democratic Republic of Georgia, Noe Ramishvili will be released. Moreover, international conferences, as well as summer schools are also planned and emigrants will participate in them. “It is a very good format of collaboration. Next year we will mark a lot of interesting dates. On February 8, we will start celebrating the 100th anniversary of the university. In May, we will mark the anniversary of the Democratic Republic of Georgia,” Giorgi Sharvashidze said.
“The Memorandum that was signed today is very important for the National Archives of Georgia, because with this memorandum we will start to work jointly on another new project. This project involves preparation of a very interesting publication about the first head of the Georgian government,” Director General of the National Archives of Georgia, Teona Iashvili said. She also noted that the National Archives of Georgia as well as the Tbilisi State University stores very important and diverse collections. So, the most important materials will be revealed and published in a form of an anniversary album next year, she added.
The Memorandum aims at carrying out joint scientific and research activities; raising awareness of Georgian and foreign students and citizens about the Democratic Republic of Georgia through preparation of new publications and popularization of the issues related to the Democratic Republic of Georgia.
An exhibition was held on the sideline of the event, which displayed the photos of the President of the first government of the Democratic Republic of Georgia, Noe Ramishvili; his Georgian and French diplomatic passports, visiting cards; a certificate on being elected as a member of the Constituent Assembly; encoded letters about preparations for the 1924 uprising.
