TSU, Teikyo University Sign Memorandum of Cooperation

Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University (TSU) and Teikyo University of Japan signed a Memorandum of Cooperation on December 18. The Memorandum envisages exchange of students, professors and research teams between the two universities. Rector of TSU, George Sharvashidze and President of Teikyo University, Yoshihito Okinaga signed the Memorandum. Ambassador of Japan to Georgia, Tadaharu Uehara also attended the signing ceremony.

Rector George Sharvashidze said that a five-year cooperation agreement was concluded with Teikyo University. “Teikyo University of Japan has developed a lot of courses. Today we talked about some of them – cultural heritage and technology, medicine and other directions, in which we both are interested. It is important that there is such a great interest towards our science and culture,” Rector Sharvashidze said.

President of Teikyo University, Yoshihito Okinaga said that cooperation with Tbilisi State University is important, especially in research field. “Mutual cooperation is also very interesting in terms of relations between young students. By establishing relations with the people of different cultures, students will develop themselves and make a contribution to the development of their own country,” President Okinaga said.

Teikyo University is one of the leading private universities in Japan. The University was founded in 1966 and presently it has 27 000 students.
