The delegation of the University of International Business and Economics (UIBE) of the People’s Republic of China visited Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University (TSU) on December 20. TSU and UIBE signed the Memorandum of Cooperation on the sideline of the visit. Under the Memorandum signed by Rector of TSU, George Sharvashidze and Party Chief of UIBE, Jiang Qingzhe, the two universities will implement exchange programs and other joint projects.
Rector George Sharvashidze said that Georgian students are already studying at the University of International Business and Economics of China. “The University of International Business and Economics is one of the leading universities in the People’s Republic of China. We have students from China, but it is only the beginning of our collaboration. The Center for Kartvelian Studies, which already exists, will be further strengthened and our researchers will be sent to work there,” he said.
Party Chief of UIBE, Jiang Qingzhe said that the meeting was very interesting and fruitful. “We are glad to launch collaboration with Tbilisi State University. We will mainly collaborate in the direction of exchange programs and joint projects,” he noted.
As part of the visit the Chinese delegation met with Dean of the TSU Faculty of Law, Tamar Zarandia and faculty representatives, as well as Head of the TSU Foreign Relations Department, Tea Gergedava and Director of the International School of Economics at TSU, Tamar Sulukhia.
