3rd International Scientific Conference “Challenges of Globalization in Economics and Business”

The 3rd International Scientific Conference “Challenges of Globalization in Economics and Business” was opened at Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University (TSU) on October 26. The conference was organized by the TSU Faculty of Economics and Business. Nunu Ovsyannikova, Head of TSU Administration, Professor Giorgi Gaganidze, Dean of the TSU Faculty of Economics and Business, Georgian and foreign scientists, students attended the event.

“Globalization is the process, which has an irreversible nature. Unfortunately, according to some opinions persisting in the Georgian society, it is better to use the ideas coming from other countries, but it should be noted that Georgian economists have practical knowledge about Georgian economics that is essential for making correct decisions. It is very difficult to offer a particular recipe. We should enjoy the advantages provided by globalization and reduce the threats also created by globalization. And Georgian economists can make a priceless contribution to it,” Professor Giorgi Gaganidze, Dean of the TSU Faculty of Economics and Business, said.

Roman Kakulia, Chairman of the Parliament’s Sector Economy and Economic Policy Committee, said: “It is no secret in the world that globalization has not brought only positive results, that it has led to concentration of capital in the hands of those subjects, which already had owned huge capital and that it has somehow promoted the tendencies of impoverishment. Therefore, such challenges are twice important for small countries like ours. It is very difficult to find a golden mean. Georgia is not the first country facing this challenge. International experience in this issue is very important to help us establish our particular visions.”

Georgian and foreign scientists from nine countries presented about 120 works and scientific papers.

The international conference was held as part of events marking the 100th anniversary of Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University.
