The delegation of the American Jewish Committee (AJC) visited Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University on February 27. David Harris, CEO of the American Jewish Committee, addressed students and faculty at TSU, where he spoke about U.S. foreign policy and global diplomacy in the new political era. Rector of TSU, Giorgi Sharvashidze, students and academics attended the event.
Rector Sharvashidze said that “the CEO of the American Jewish Committee delivered a very interesting lecture. The meeting aroused huge interest among PhD and other students. We will further continue our work in this format. Professor Harris promised us to return to Georgia and speak about new language of diplomacy.”
David Harris, CEO of the American Jewish Committee hailed his visit to TSU as a great honor. “Although it is my first visit to the Tbilisi State University, I have heard a lot about it. I know that TSU is an excellent university and it was the best educational institution throughout the Soviet Union. If we judge by the questions asked during the meeting, we can conclude that top level students are studying here and I hope that I will have yet another opportunity to come back,” he said.
On the sideline of the event, Rector Giorgi Sharvashidze awarded the Medal of the Tbilisi State University to David Harris.
