Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University (TSU) is ranked 435th in Best Global Universities Rankings 2019, according to U.S. News & World Report. TSU is the only university from the region that is among 500 best universities and it belongs to the top 2% of the world’s best universities, according to U.S. News & World Report – Best Global Universities Ranking.
The overall Best Global Universities rankings encompass the top 1,250 institutions spread across 75 countries.
These institutions have been ranked based on 13 indicators that measure their academic research performance and their global and regional reputations. Ranking indicators include global research reputation; regional research reputation, publications; books; conferences; normalized citation impact; total citations; number of publications that are among the 10 percent most cited; percentage of total publications that are among the 10 percent most cited; percentage of total publications that are among the top 1 percent most highly cited papers, etc. The survey is also built on academics’ opinions about world universities, their views of programs in the disciplines with which they were familiar.
The United States is leading among best global universities with 227 universities; Harvard University has been listed first in the rankings. Among top countries are China with 130 universities; Great Britain – 78; Japan – 67 and Germany – 62. Georgia is represented in the rankings by Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University.
