The State University of Medicine and Pharmaceutics "Nicolae Testeminatu" in the Republic of Moldova is a high education institution, accredited at national level, that offers best conditions of high and post graduate education via residency of the medical and pharmaceutical personnel in conformity with the requirements of the European education and world standards, later on assuring it via clinical secondary doctorate, post-doctorate and continuous professional training over their entire activity. The didactic process is developed in an indispensable connection with the scientific research, offering quality medical assistance to the population, and promoting the achievements of medicine and pharmacy.
The didactic-scientific potential of the SMPhU is unique due to a high professionalism that combines knowledge of foreign languages and information technologies.
The education strategy of the University originates from beautiful traditions of the medical schools of the last century and strives continuously to considerable changes in the way of developing the high medical education. The ongoing curriculum reform is related to the considerable renovation of the educational curriculums, capitalization of new educational offers, use of European system of transferable academic grading scale, implementation of information and communication technologies, modern advanced types and methods for developing the process of teaching-learning-assessment.
Students and medical resident students benefit from the possibility to participate in the activity of scientific research. Simultaneously, they are offered a deep knowledge course of international foreign languages, training of specialization and documentation abroad, driving courses, participation in different sport, cultural-artistic activities etc. All these activities are backed up by a well developed technical and material basis, of a rich fund of medical scientific literature and other modern sources of information, normal living and rest conditions for students, residency owners and teachers.
"...To dedicate my knowledge and forces to the protection and consolidation of human health, through prevention and treatment of diseases, to work with abnegation in the service of the community and interest of the nation..." - are words from the Oath of the Doctor, pronounced annually by over 600 local graduates and from other 25 world countries.
The University is well known abroad for its values it produced in the field of education, medical assistance to the population and spiritual culture. This University is always devoted to the traditions of the forerunners and at the same time anchored in the realities of the recent epoch live in, being involved in the exchange of values with over 30 famous universities and medical centers from Romania, the Russian Federation, Ukraine, the Czech Republic, USA, France, Germany, Italy, Greece, the Netherlands, Israel, a fact that assures the mobility and offers the chance of plenary assertion within the didactic-teaching frame and studious youth.
School of Public Health is a subdivision of the SMPhU, created in 2003. The school comprise a large range of trainings determined by the present needs of the public health system. Program of education are of a new type, focusing on promoting national and international standards, and comprising both intensive full-time training courses and modern distance learning methods, allowing studying without interrupting the professional activity.
In a relatively short period, the School of Public Health has established relations of collaboration with a number of similar institutions from different countries and since 2007 has been a full member of the European Associations of Public Health Schools (ASPHER) that offers the possibility of accreditation in European structures.
