The Department of Information Technology and Operations Management at the Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University is a structural unit of the university, which has the following functions:

1.    To provide Internet services to the university (web service, e-mail, etc.).
2.    To provide services to the university’s network infrastructure.
3.    To provide internal network support services;
4.    To introduce the ERP system.
5.     To introduce and develop electronic courses and distance learning in various disciplines.
6.    To develop cluster-based computing infrastructure.  
7.    To connect the university’s internal network to the Global Resource Information Database (GRID).   
8.    To operate computer resource centers in order to ensure independent access of the university staff and students to computer resources.

To perform its functions, the department carries out the following activities:
•    Develops network topology.
•    Expands and modifies network infrastructure.
•    Provides network infrastructure support services.
•    Participates in the implementation of modern information technology development projects.
•    Provides the department’s system programs and Internet connection in order to implement joint projects with other university and foreign scientific computer centers.
•    Provides system software modifications at the department’s computer centers.
•    Monitors warranty repair services for computers.
•    Provides hardware and software repair services as much as possible.
