TSU, Ministry of Environment Sign Memorandum of Cooperation

The Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University (TSU) and the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources Protection of Georgia signed a Memorandum of Cooperation on July 10. The memorandum was signed by TSU Rector, Academician Vladimer Papava and Minister of Environment and Natural Resources Protection, Gigla Agulashvili.
“The memorandum signed with the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources Protection will enable our students to undergo internships at various facilities selected by the ministry. In frames of this cooperation, unique equipment was handed over to us with the help of which our students will be able to raise their qualification and become high level specialists in this very important field,” TSU Rector, Vladimer Papava said.

“In frames of this memorandum, the university will use the Radiation Monitoring Laboratory for educational purposes, as well as according to our needs. We are intensively cooperating with the Tbilisi State University not only in this sphere, but in other fields too, and we believe that this process will further deepen. Besides the laboratory, successful students will have an opportunity to undergo internship at the Ministry,” Environment Minister Gigla Agulashvili said.

The purpose of the Memorandum of Cooperation is to implement joint projects and programs; to organize conferences, seminars and working meetings; to promote exchange of information and to cooperate in planning and organizing environmental events.

In frames of the memorandum, the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources Protection of Georgia will transfer the Radiation Monitoring Laboratory to the Tbilisi State University for temporary use; it will offer student internships at the Ministry and ensure their participation in environmental educational events.

In frames of the memorandum, TSU will ensure the involvement of academic staff and students in the events planned under the memorandum as well as organize public lectures on key environmental issues with the participation of the representatives of the Ministry of Environment.
