Student Competition ‘Mission 2014’

The final of student competition “Mission 2014” as well as an award ceremony was held at the Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University (TSU) on July 12. A team Death Star became the winner of this year’s competition and prize money at GEL 2500 was awarded to it; a team Emission took the second place with GEL 1500, while the third place and GEL 1000 was awarded to TSU Energy. Georgian company Sante GMT Products LLC was the project partner for 2014.

The winners were selected out of six finalist teams, who submitted their presentation materials created on two brands of Sante GMT Products – Santisimo and Santino.

“We have worked on Sante’s project during a month and it was a huge experience for us; our ideas were gradually developed and transformed into a project and I am happy that it brought success to us,” Ana Kiasashvili, leader of the winning team said.

TSU Rector, Academician Vladimer Papava said that “we have made sure once again that the student competition Mission is a successful project, because students showed huge interest toward it. What is most important, the partner companies see that they can get interesting ideas from this project.”

TSU student competition in marketing and PR – Mission – is the university’s annual project, which is jointly implemented by the university and a successful Georgian brand. Each year a new Georgian brand participates in the competition and the contestants create new ideas for a new partner. This year Sante GMT Products LLC is the partner company, which introduced prize fund at GEL 5000.

“Implementation of similar projects is doubly important for us, because, firstly, we are glad that young people have a chance to get practical experience along with theoretical knowledge, and simultaneously the authors of winning projects will have an opportunity to implement their projects together with the company representatives. On the other hand, opinions of our consumers have always been important for our company. We are full of new ideas and emotions and that is why this project is so interesting,” Deputy Director General of Sante GMT Products LLC, Erekle Gamkrelidze said.

Certificates and memorial gifts were handed over to all finalists. Another partner of the university, online shop BE.ge awarded memory cards and discount vouchers to the winning teams.

The goal of the competition is to promote the implementation and professional development of student ideas, to provide cooperation of winning students with partner companies and to increase future employment opportunities. The contestants are able to become the company’s virtual marketing and PR managers, to plan particular activities, to win in the competition, to obtain money awards and realize their ideas.

58 teams from various faculties participated in the student competition. The internal jury selected the best six projects, while the three winners were revealed by the main jury consisting of TSU Rector, Academician Vladimer Papava; Deputy Director General of Sante GMT Products LLC, Erekle Gamkrelidze; Head of Marketing Department at Wendy’s, Sopo Chogovadze; Nika Gvetsadze of Geocell’s Marketing Department and Teimuraz Babutsidze, the winner of the 2012 competition and coordinator at PR School.
