Presentation of Georgian Version of The Economist’s World in 2014 at TSU

The Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University hosted a presentation of the Georgian version of The World in 2014, the annual publication from The Economist. TSU Rector, Academician Vladimer Papava, Executive Director of the Partnership Fund Irakli Kovzanadze, foreign diplomats accredited in Georgia, TSU academic staff and students attended the event organized by Georgia Today Group.

TSU Rector Vladimer Papava said that “The Economist is one of the leading professional publications for a wide audience, highlighting the ongoing economic developments worldwide. It is very good that its Georgian version has been created. The World in 2014 is a specific edition, which covers all the problems facing the world today. It also provides information on Georgia; so it will be simultaneously interesting for students, academic staff and wider audience.”

“We deliberately decided to hold a presentation for the university students and professors, because we believe that this information, this analytical material concentrated in it, will primarily interest university students and academic staff. The Georgian bloc of the magazine is especially interesting this year. We have quite popular authors, whom the society mostly knows as respondents; but this time they present themselves as the authors of articles. I think, one can hardly find a publication in Georgia, which concentrates so many ideas and plans, especially for 2014,” Giorgi Sharashenidze, the publisher of the magazine, said.

“Publication of the Georgian version of The Economist’s World in 2014 is extremely important. Everyone, who reads this magazine, will understand its importance. The Georgian language portion of the magazine is especially interesting. It highlights both public and private sectors. To say bluntly, this magazine will prove its significance,” Executive Director of the Partnership Fund Irakli Kovzanadze said.

During the presentation the authors of the magazine met with TSU students and academic staff.

Among the Georgian authors of the magazine there are famous Georgian politicians, economists, experts, business leaders and public figures. The magazine offers articles by Georgian President Giorgi Margvelashvili, Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili, Parliamentary Chairman Davit Usupashvili, TSU Rector Vladimer Papava, ministers, ambassadors, leaders of non-governmental organizations and leading business companies. The key message of the magazine is a global forecast for the events and trends that will shape the year ahead.
