TSU, Lingwing Sign Memorandum of Cooperation
Students of Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University will have an opportunity to learn foreign languages through a Georgian web portal Lingwing at a preferential rate. A 50-member pilot group of TSU students has already passed one course in foreign languages at lingwing.com. 10 students have been selected for the second course, who will study any of six foreign languages offered by Lingwing free of charge. This opportunity is provided to TSU students under the Memorandum of Cooperation signed between TSU and Lingwing on April 10. Under the Memorandum, the parties will promote the development of innovative projects in the sphere of education, and they express readiness to organize public lectures, training courses, master classes and various types of competitions. The Memorandum was signed by TSU Rector, George Sharvashidze and Director of Lingwing, Vakhtang Veliashvili.
The collaboration will be mutually beneficial for the both sides and especially students, Rector Sharvashidze said. He said that a very good collaboration has been established between Lingwing and TSU in two directions: first – promoting startups, creation of innovative projects, and second – encouraging students to learn foreign languages.
Director of Lingwing, Vakhtang Veliashvili offered a lot of novelties to TSU students. “All students of TSU will enjoy preferential rates at Lingwing. Everyone will have access to six languages available on our website. We will also create the system of encouragement for students in frames of which the best students will be revealed and awarded,” he noted.
TSU students, Mariam Sabraloshvili and Tamar Abramashvili, have already passed the English language course at lingwing.com. The both hailed the course as the best opportunity for studying and improving foreign language skills.
Under the Memorandum, Lingwing will promote the involvement of TSU students in various events, the engagement of foreign organizations accredited in Georgia and donors to popularize European languages, as well as the establishment of mutual cooperation to promote student startups in the field of innovations and technology.
