Chamber Music Concert Dedicated to TSU’s 100th Anniversary
On March 19, the Tbilisi State Chamber Orchestra “Georgian Sinfonietta” and the Tbilisi Zakaria Paliashvili Central Music School held a chamber music concert at Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University (TSU) dedicated to TSU’s 100th anniversary. Rector of TSU, Giorgi Sharvashidze, academics, students and music community attended the event.
Rector of TSU, Giorgi Sharvashidze thanked Georgian Sinfonietta and the Central Music School for the concert. “The performance by the Central Music School during the February 8-9 anniversary events has inspired our foreign colleagues. This time, TSU received the best anniversary gift from Georgian Sinfonietta and the Central Music School. Let me thank them for the love that they shared,” Rector Sharvashidze noted and awarded the Certificate of Appreciation to the Central Music School for the support and active cooperation in organizing the anniversary events.
Director of the Central Music School, Nodar Zhvania said that the Central Music School and Georgian Sinfonietta decided to congratulate TSU on its 100th anniversary with music. “Georgian Sinfonietta’s Artistic Director, Giorgi Kerelashvili and I decided to create a joint orchestra. It will be useful for our students. We prepared an excellent concert program – Vivaldi, Elgar, Mozart. We would like to congratulate TSU on its 100th anniversary with music,” Nodar Zhvania said.
Tiko Koberidze, one of the members of the orchestra, said after the concert that the chamber music concert was an excellent experience for her and other members of the orchestra. “The concert was dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Tbilisi State University. I am very satisfied because this concert was a good experience for me,” Tiko Koberidze noted.
The chamber music concert was arranged upon the initiative of Georgian Sinfonietta. Students in grades 9-12 of the Central Music School were specifically selected for the concert, who performed quite difficult pieces of chamber music together with Georgian Sinfonietta.
