TSU’s 100th Anniversary Marked at Kvemo Alvani Public School
On March 2, pupils from the Kvemo Alvani public school in the Akhmeta Municipality held an event marking the 100th anniversary of Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University (TSU). Rector of TSU, Giorgi Sharvashidze attended the event.
Rector Sharvashidze spoke with pupils about the significance of establishing the university at the beginning of the 20th century, the difficulties existing at that time and interesting details related to the foundation of the university. He also spoke about current educational programs, infrastructure necessary for learning and research, as well as the opportunities opened up for students.
“We had a very vivid and interesting discussion. The school itself took the initiative to mark TSU’s 100th anniversary. Recently I visited Kharagauli. The university is implementing a very interesting project – TSU Envoy, in frames of which our students arrive at their native schools to hold presentations and deliver lectures. So, we will cover a lot of schools through TSU Envoy. This time, we have arrived at the school of Kvemo Alvani to present information about the university and invite pupils to TSU,” Giorgi Sharvashidze said.
Ana Tavberidze, a pupil from the Kvemo Alvani public school, expressed willingness to continue studies at TSU. “I want to become a TSU student. The meeting was very interesting. I would like to thank the TSU Rector for presenting information about the opportunities at TSU.”
Rector Sharvashidze handed over the books published by the TSU Publishing House to the library of the Kvemo Alvani public school and invited school pupils to the Tbilisi State University.
