Presentation of Erasmus Mundus Broadening Educational ExpeRiences (EMBER)
The Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University (TSU) hosted a presentation of
Erasmus Mundus Broadening Educational ExpeRiences (EMBER) project on
October 10.
The representatives of the project coordinator - University of Seville (Spain), the European Commission’s Education, Audiovisual and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA) and 20 partner universities participated in the event. TSU hosted the event as the project co-coordinator.
“TSU has been involved in Erasmus Mundus programme that means the mobility of our students, researchers, professors and staff; it enables our staff to raise their qualification at leading European universities. The project is very important as the European Union stands behind it,” TSU Rector, Academician Vladimer Papava said.
Director of the International Relations Office at the University of Seville, Santiago Melcón Pérez said that “the project enables students from the universities of Georgia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Ukraine and Moldova to spend a certain period of their studies at European universities. A total of 148 students will receive financing in frames of the project. It is an excellent investment carried out by the European Union to assist the youth from non-member states.”
Erasmus Mundus is a cooperation and mobility programme that aims to enhance cooperation in the sphere of higher education between the universities of the EU member states and South Caucasian countries. The programme enables students, young researchers and university staff to increase their linguistic, cultural and educational experience through undergoing academic studies in Europe.
The Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University has been involved in Erasmus Mundus programme since 2007. About 200 students have already participated in the educational exchange programmes since then.
