Fabrication Lab Opens at TSU

A fabrication laboratory (FabLab) was opened at the 10th Building (Maglivi) of the Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University (TSU) on December 28. TSU Rector, Academician Vladimer Papava, TSU professors, Tbilisi Mayor Davit Narmania, representatives of the Tbilisi City Hall and the university attended the event.
TSU Rector Vladimer Papava said: “Setting up a FabLab is very important for the university. TSU would have failed to do it with its scarce resources. This is yet another example of fruitful cooperation between the university and the Tbilisi City Hall. A small space concentrates expensive, unique equipment that will help our young people raise their qualifications and launch a small business. Young people will get necessary knowledge and experience that will be important in their professional life.”
“We have opened a modern laboratory at TSU. The FabLab will help students raise their qualifications. It also contains some elements of small entrepreneurship. So, another new project will be implemented in the capital,” Mayor Narmania said.
The project will jointly be implemented by the Tbilisi State University (Center for Analysis and Forecast) and the Tbilisi City Hall (Technological Development Foundation).
The FabLab aims to support inventors, innovators and young entrepreneurs, as well as to unite enthusiasts that will promote and stimulate economic growth in the country.
