Delegation of University of Warmia and Mazury in Olsztyn at TSU

First Deputy Rector of the Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University, Levan Aleksidze and Vice Rector of the University of Warmia and Mazury in Olsztyn, Jerzy Jaroszewski signed a Memorandum of Mutual Cooperation.

Dean of the TSU Faculty of Law, Irakli Burduli said that “the Olsztyn University is one of the young but rapidly developing universities in Poland. We have had certain cooperation with this university, but the signed Memorandum of Mutual Cooperation enables us to expand and intensify this relationship. Our students and academic staff will get involved in exchange programs; joint research projects will be implemented.”

“Our university is younger than TSU. However, an academic tradition is extremely old. Visiting professors from various universities are delivering lectures at our university. The signed memorandum will enable us to further boost already existing relations. Erasmus Mundus and other exchange programs will promote the cooperation between our students and academic staff,” Vice-Rector of the University of Warmia and Mazury in Olsztyn, Jerzy Jaroszewski said.

The Olsztyn University delegation led by the Vice-Rector visited TSU on December 12. The delegation also included professors from the Faculty of Law and Administration of the University of Warmia and Mazury in Olsztyn.

The delegation held its first meeting with the representatives of the Institute of Old Georgian Law, Roman Studies and Legal History. During the meeting the specialists in legal history acquainted each other with the research projects implemented by them and discussed future perspectives of bilateral cooperation. Over the past three years, three international scientific conferences were held in the sphere of legal history; all of them were organized by TSU professors in legal history and their Polish counterparts. Two of them were held in Georgia and one – in Poland; moreover, a collection of academic papers from all the three conferences were published.

The Memorandum of Mutual Cooperation signed between TSU and the Olsztyn University envisages exchange programs for students and academic staff as well as various scientific-research events.
