Presentation of Collection “National and International Human Rights Mechanisms”

On December 23, Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University (TSU) hosted a presentation of the collection of articles “National and International Human Rights Mechanisms.”

TSU Professor Konstantine Korkelia is the editor of the collection. He said that the collection includes the articles on human rights protection and aims to analyze legal and human rights problems persisting in Georgia; in addition, it offers solutions based on the experience of foreign countries. “We try to share international experience with Georgian lawyers and ultimately, to promote further improvement of our legislation as well as to ensure higher human rights standards. This collection involves all those issues, which are so interesting for our society. The authors have no limitations in terms of topics. The opinions of lawyers, scientists, practitioners are very interesting. All of them express their opinions in this collection,” Konstantine Korkelia said.

The International Law Institute of the TSU Faculty of Law has been releasing the collection since 2006. Academician Levan Aleksidze, the director of the International Law Institute, said that this year the collection will celebrate its 10th anniversary. “Human rights protection is one of the central problems in modern international law. Just this topic was picked up by the author as the key problem when launching the collection ten years ago. Those persons, who will read the collection, will understand how important human rights are,” Academician Levan Aleksidze noted.

The articles have been prepared by scientists, practicing lawyers, judges and defense lawyers, as well as representatives of non-governmental organizations and government agencies.
