Seventh Faculty Conference in Exact and Natural Sciences

A plenary session of the Faculty of Exact and Natural Sciences was opened at Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University. Certificates and cash prizes were awarded to eight students winning the Seventh Faculty Conference in Exact and Natural Sciences. Rector George Sharvashidze, Dean of the TSU Faculty of Exact and Natural Sciences, Ramaz Khomeriki, academics and students attended the ceremony.

Rector Sharvashidze said that students took an active part in the conference. “It was a very important conference. It is a very good format, which helps students pave their ways towards science, to understand the price of science and become scientists in the future,” he noted.

Dean of the TSU Faculty of Exact and Natural Sciences, Ramaz Khomeriki said that students are able to present their papers at a plenary session. “Our professors selected papers according to the departments and the best papers will now be presented to us. We do our best to open up opportunities for these students and enable them to present their scientific achievements,” the Dean noted.

Tamar Kimeridze is a second-year MA student of the Faculty of Exact and Natural Sciences and one of the winners of the conference. According to her, the victory was a surprise for her. “I participated in the university conference for the first time and therefore, I did not expect to win. I am happy, but simultaneously it is a great responsibility,” she said.

Students of eight departments (Mathematics, Computer Science, Physics, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Chemistry, Biology, Geography and Geology Departments) prepared about 60 papers (student research) for the Seventh Faculty Conference.

Student papers will later be uploaded on the conference website.
