Professor Michael Williams, Doctor of Economics, expert on environmental economics, delivered a public lecture “Cost-Benefit Analysis as a Tool of Sustainable Economic Development” at the Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University.
“Professor Michael Williams has a huge experience in a sphere of consulting. His lecture is about an interesting topic that will arouse students’ interest in this sphere of economics. I think that this meeting will be mutually beneficial. Our students will get comprehensive information on this issue, while for Prof. Williams this meeting with students will be very important, because it will encourage him to develop his research and focus on student requirements,” Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business, Teimuraz Beridze said.
“Similar public lectures are important not only for our professors, but for the students too. Although our programs already meet international standards, sharing foreign professors’ experience is very useful for our students. Similar events promote not only raising of the level of students’ knowledge, but also their further access to foreign universities,” Head of the Department of Economic and Social Statistics at the Faculty of Economics and Business, Prof. Simon Gelashvili said.
The key goal of the lecture is to popularize international experience about the issues of green economy development in the direction of scientific-research and educational activities. This problem is extremely important to achieve sustainable development goals of Georgia, as well as the European Union and the world, as a whole.
The lecture was organized by the Department of Economic and Social Statistics of the TSU Faculty of Economics and Business with the support of the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources Protection of Georgia and USAID.
