TSU Professor Becomes St. Grigol Peradze Prize Laureate

Vakhtang Licheli, Professor at Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University (TSU), Director of the Institute of Archaeology at TSU, has become Laureate of St. Grigol Peradze Prize of Warsaw University.

On September 13, the Prize Awarding Council named St. Grigol Peradze Prize laureates at the Palace of Pototsky of Warsaw University. Along with Vakhtang Licheli, the prize was awarded to historian Vakhtang Peradze, founder and rector of St. Grigol Peradze Tbilisi University, as well as Jost Gippert, German linguist, Caucasiologist, director of the Institute of Linguistics at the University of Frankfurt; editor of old Georgian palimpsests.

St. Grigol Peradze Prize of Warsaw University was introduced on December 6, 2010 upon initiative of a scientific journal Pro Georgia. Journal of Kartvelological Studies. It is awarded biennially.

The awards ceremony will be held on the sideline of the 15th International Conference of Caucasiologists in Warsaw on December 6.
