Georgian Judokas Meet TSU Students
A meeting between TSU students and members of the Georgian National Judo Team was held at the Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University (TSU) on April 3. Georgian Olympic, World and European champions in Judo, President of the Georgian Judo Federation, Davit Kevkhishvili and coaching staff participated in the meeting.
During the meeting Georgian judokas Avtandil Chrikishvili, Beka Gviniashvili, Lasha Shavdatuashvili as well as representatives of the Georgian Judo Federation spoke about their achievements, future plans of the team, sporting life and other interesting issues. The meeting format enabled a thorough question and answer session.
President of the Georgian Judo Federation, Davit Kevkhishvili said that Avtandil Chrikishvili, Beka Gviniashvili, Lasha Shavdatuashvili and Davit Kevkhishvili will finance the studies of four socially vulnerable students.
President of TSU Student Self-Government, Shalva Sabauri said: “We hosted the representatives of the Georgian Judo Federation, athletes and champions. The meeting was very interesting. People around us lack aspiration towards success; more diligence is needed and success will come to you. Georgian judokas serve a good example for it.”
“The today’s meeting was successful. Our relationship with the university will continue. We spoke about implementation of joint projects. Our guys expressed willingness to help socially vulnerable students. It will not be one-time assistance; we will do our best to make our contribution to Georgian young people’s education,” President of the Georgian Judo Federation, Davit Kevkhishvili said.
“I want to thank each and every student. People’s love is extremely important for athletes. When these people stand behind you, you no more belong to yourself. We spare no efforts to please them,” Lasha Shavdatuashvili, Olympic champion, said.
The event was organized by the Self-Government of TSU Faculty of Law.
