TSU, Georgian Medical Association Sign Memorandum of Cooperation

The Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University (TSU) will have a medical university clinic. TSU students from the Faculty of Medicine will undergo practice at the university clinic, while TSU professors will carry out educational-research and medical activities. The university clinic will be established under the Memorandum of Cooperation signed by TSU Rector, Academician Vladimer Papava and Chairman of the Georgian Medical Association’s Board of Directors, Professor Gia Lobzhanidze on July 9.

TSU Rector Vladimer Papava said: “It is important that TSU will have the university clinic. It will enable us to increase the medical society’s involvement in the university’s activities, whereas our students will undergo highly qualified medical training.”

“The existence of the university clinic is important for the TSU Faculty of Medicine. The international standard clinic will be established by joint efforts of TSU and Georgian Medical Association. Humanitarian freight has already arrived from the United States. Modern medical equipment and medical items will arrive from Germany and the United States within a year,” Chairman of the Georgian Medical Association’s Board of Directors, Professor Gia Lobzhanidze said.

According to the memorandum, the multi-profile university clinic will be established through the cooperation and joint efforts by TSU and Georgian Medical Association. Educational programs of the TSU Faculty of Medicine on pre-diploma, post-diploma and continuing professional education will be implemented at the university clinic. It will promote training of modern level professionals for Georgia’s healthcare system and providing high quality medical services to the population.
