15th International Annual Conference on American Studies ‘United States Foreign Policy in Eastern Europe’

The 15th International Annual Conference on American Studies “United States Foreign Policy in Eastern Europe” was opened at the Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University. TSU Rector, Academician Vladimer Papava, U.S. Ambassador to Georgia Richard Norland, TSU professors, students and invited guests attended the event.

TSU Rector Vladimer Papava said: “The study of U.S. history, culture and traditions has become a priority for the Tbilisi State University. The conference is held annually. This is a tradition, which already has deep roots and our professors and students are intensively participating in this process. The conference is supported by the U.S. Embassy to Georgia and I am deeply confident that this cooperation will have a successful continuation.”

Ambassador Norland expressed his appreciation to TSU for showing interest in the United States and studying the issues related to the United States. He also reiterated the U.S. support to Georgia’s Euro-Atlantic integration.

A broad range of papers were submitted to the conference covering the issues of history of the United States, Latin America and Canada, as well politics, economy, law, science, culture, education, religion, Georgian-American relations, Georgian immigration in the United States, etc. The key goal of the conference is to promote the study of Georgian-American relationship; to provide scholarly and educational activity in the field; to coordinate the work of Georgian scientists in American studies and boost their relations with their American and European colleagues.
