Tbilisi State University Team will be the one from Georgia at Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition

TSU Team has been entitled to represent Georgia after winning National Championship Rounds held at the Supreme Court of Georgia.

Teams from Georgian Institute for Public Affairs (GIPA), Free University of Tbilisi and Ilia State University competed alongside TSU, the team of which unifies students of Public International Law and Law directions of the Faculty of Law: Giorgi Baidze, Nino Goshketeliani, Nana Kruashvili and Tamta Shamatava. The team is coached by TSU PhD student Tamta Zaalishvili.

The TSU and GIPA qualified for the Georgian National Finals. Assessing written and oral reasoning of the parties, TSU Team was announced a winner and qualifying to represent Georgia in International Rounds to be held in Washington, DC. TSU team also got the Best Team Memorial award, and Giorgi Baidze was announced as the Best Speaker of the National Championship Rounds.

The 2017-2018 season marks the 59th year of the Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition. Jessup is the worlds largest moot court competition, bringing together over 645 law schools from all continents. The Competition is a simulation of a fictional dispute between countries before the International Court of Justice, the principal judicial organ of the United Nations. The formation and preparation of the TSU Team commenced in June 2017 under the leadership of Professor Ketevan Khutsishvili. The team members were selected by the professors of International Law Institute during two summer schools.

Tbilisi State University team will participate in International Rounds during 1-7 April 2018, in Washington DC, USA.
