School Competition “Let’s Take Care of Our Native Language”

No to Barbarisms movement at Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University (TSU) is holding a school competition on a topic: “Let’s Take Care of Our Native Language!” The purpose of the competition is to explain the processes ongoing in modern Georgian language to young generation, to arouse love and care in them for their native language.

The competition is dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the university’s foundation.

The competition will be held between schools and pupils.

An essay contest will be held for schoolchildren on a topic: “Why should we take care of our native language.”

The competition between schools aims to encourage planning and holding an event or a series of events dedicated to the Georgian language at schools.   

The competent jury will reveal winning schools and pupils, who will be awarded at the Tbilisi State University on April 14, 2018 – the Day of Georgian Language.

The competition will be held in several stages:
I stage – School registration for participation in the competition, December 2017
II stage – Public lectures for participating pupils, January 2018
III stage – Essay contest. The schools participating in the competition will select three best essays and submit them to the jury, February 2018  
IV stage – Competition on an event or a series of events dedicated to the Georgian language at schools, February – March 2018
V stage – Revealing winning schools and pupils by the jury, March 2018
VI stage – Awarding winning schools and pupils at the Tbilisi State University, April 14, 2018

The best essays will be posted on the website of the Tbilisi State University.

The competition will be held under the patronage of the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia.
