12th Annual International Conference of Caucasiologists in Memory of St. Grigol Peradze

The Centre for East European Studies, University of Warsaw organizes the 12th Annual International Conference of Caucasiologists in memory of St. Grigol Peradze (1899–1942) that will take place in Senate Room (Sala Senatu) of Kazimierzowski Palace, at the University of Warsaw on December 4-6, 2014. The conference is dedicated to the 825th anniversary of Shota Rustaveli’s creative work. The key goal of the conference is to popularize Georgian cultural heritage, religious and philosophical values, its culture and history in the world development process.


SYMPOSIUM TOPICS:
•    Shota Rustaveli – poet and humanist;
•    Georgia in the period of Rustaveli – the Georgian Renaissance in 12-13th centuries;
•    Medieval Georgian monasteries;
•    Religion of Shota Rustaveli;
•    Shota Rustaveli’s place in European and world literature culture: critics and translations.

•    First authors writing about Shota Rustaveli and The Knight in the Panther’s Skin -
G. Reinhard, K. Rdułtowski, K. Łapczyński, A. Leist;
•    Prosaic translations of The Knight in the Panther’s Skin – K. Lapchinsky, A. Laist;
•    Rustaveli and his poem – K. Król, K. Winiewicz, J. Tuwim, J. Łobodowski;
•    Shota Rustaveli in communities of Georgian emigration – between Paris and Warsaw, among others: St. Grigol Peradze, J. Nakashidze, G. Gvazava, A. Gugushvili, V. Nozadze;
•    Interest to Shota Rustaveli in post-war Poland – B. Baranowski, J. Reychmann,
W. Kubacki,  Igor Sikirycki, J. Zagórski, J. Braun and others;
•    Contemporary interest to Rustaveli in Europe and world;
•    New ways of popularization of knowledge about Rustaveli and his works – theatre, music, cinematography

ROUND TABLE:
Georgia on its path to European Union. Issue of contemporary Polish-Georgian good relations with European Union, exchange of Polish experiences on the way to European Integration.

WORKING LANGUAGES: Polish, English and French.

Candidates interested in taking part in the Conference should send applications containing following documents:  suggested topic of paper, abstract (approximately 1-1,5 thous. signs) and short biographical entry to Section of Conferences of the Centre for East European Studies, University of Warsaw (programy.studium@uw.edu.pl) till 30th  April 2014.

LIST OF QUALIFIED PAPERS will be announced on 30 May 2014.

Full text of paper, in form of a scientific article: with attached title of paper and abstract in English – shall be send (programy.studium@uw.edu.pl) till 30th October 2014.

Notes: The paper should not either be published, or presented at any other conference. Participation in the conference is free of charge. Organizers are not covering travel and accommodation expenses.
