Ivane Javakhishvili International Scientific Prize Awarded to Prof. Stephen Jones
The Ivane Javakhishvili International Scientific Prize was awarded to Professor Stephen Jones from Mount Holyoke College.
By the decision of the TSU Prize Committee, the Ivane Javakhishvili International Scientific Prize 2015 was awarded to Prof. Jones for his special contribution to Kartvelian studies. The diploma award ceremony will be held during a solemn event marking the 140th anniversary of Ivane Javakhishvili.
Stephen Jones has been a member of the Mount Holyoke College faculty since 1989. He is an expert on post-communist societies in the former Soviet Union and Eastern Europe; a foreign member of the Georgian National Academy of Sciences; adviser of the editorial office and member of the editorial board. He has been awarded an honorary doctoral degree from Tbilisi State University. He is the author of a very important work about Georgia: “Georgia: A Political History of Independence”, which provides comprehensive assessment of political and economic developments in the country.
