Lead scientist, Energy Resources Department, TSU A. Tvalchrelidze Institute of Mineral Resources.  In 1984, he graduated from Tbilisi State University specializing in the geological survey of useful fossil deposits. He continued to work at the Energy Resources Department, A. Tvalchrelidze Institute of Mineral Recourses. In 1987-1991, he carried out postgraduate studies at the All-Union Geological-Research Institute in Leningrad specializing in the study of coal formations.
