Training on Online Learning

After fully transiting to online learning due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Quality Assurance Service of Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University, in partnership with San Diego State University Georgia, held another training course for TSU academic staff. A number of important issues were discussed, among them increased student engagement in virtual learning; modification of syllabus for online courses; contacts and communication with students; use of Zoom for online learning and tools for holding online exams.
To ensure better management of the learning process amid the coronavirus pandemic, in late March, TSU Quality Assurance Service conducted a survey and based on this survey, it was decided to take academic personnel’s requirements into consideration and hold training on online learning. In order to assist academic staff in selecting and using learning and evaluation methods, the TSU Quality Assurance Service offered them the following training courses: to create tasks in Moodle; to create tests in Moodle; methods of creating tests; student evaluation methods; creation of evaluation sections; preparation of self-evaluation reports. About 350 interested persons underwent registration for the training.
Furthermore, negotiations are still underway with foreign colleagues. In the second half of May, TSU will hold three more training courses for its academic personnel on online learning.
