Success of PhD Students from TSU

PhD students from the Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University (TSU) are still leading in the state grant competition announced by the Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation to render financial support to PhD students.

376 applications (150 from TSU) were registered at the Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation after the state grant competition was announced in December 2014. The applications submitted during the competition were assessed by independent experts. A total of 87 winning projects were revealed with 45 projects presented by PhD students from TSU. It should also be noted that seven projects presented by TSU doctoral students were ranked among the top 10 projects with highest scores.

The Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation will finance studies for 45 PhD students from TSU, as well as all necessary expenses for their doctoral research, internships abroad or visits and participation in conferences.

The state grant competition was first announced by the Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation in 2013. TSU was the leader in 2013 too – among 135 winning projects, 60 projects were presented by TSU doctoral students.
