New Deputy Rector of TSU Appointed

Rector of Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University, Giorgi Sharvashidze appointed Alexander Tsiskaridze, Professor at the Neurology and Neurosurgery Department of the Faculty of Medicine, as a new Deputy Rector.

Prior to this new appointment, Alexander Tsiskaridze served as Dean of the TSU Faculty of Medicine since 2009. He is a founding fellow at European Stroke Organization; member of a number of international organizations; international and national academic award winner; member and peer-reviewer of editorial boards of several international journals as well as internationally recognized expert in the field.

Quite recently, the University of Cambridge published the book Treatment-Related Stroke co-authored by Alexander Tsiskaridze, as well as Arne Lindgren, Department of Neurology, University Hospital Lund (Sweden) and Adnan Qureshi, Department of Neurology, University of Minnesota (the United States). The book is about one of the most topical issues of modern medicine – stroke and it is the first comprehensive publication dedicated to this topic.

Tsiskaridze replaced Mikheil Chkhenkeli who was appointed as Minister of Education and Science of Georgia on November 13.
