TSU – Leading University

“The Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University has proved once again that it is a leading university not only in Georgia but throughout the South Caucasus region,” Lika Glonti, coordinator of the National Tempus Office Georgia, said. She noted that 19 projects submitted by 22 Georgian universities were financed in frames of the Tempus program.

“Out of 19 projects, 11 projects were financed for the Tbilisi State University; 7 projects – Georgian Technical University; 6 projects – Ilia State University; 2 projects – Batumi State Maritime Academy, etc. Both quantitative and qualitative parameters are worth noting: non-EU member countries were granted an opportunity to become project coordinators only two years ago. TSU is a coordinator of already three projects. It confirms that the Tbilisi State University is not only a recipient, but also a managing university among the project’s partner universities and this is a clear example of huge trust demonstrated by the European Union towards TSU,” Lika Glonti noted.

Tempus program has been operating in Georgia since 1995 providing support to the universities. TSU was the first Georgian higher educational institution to have joined the Tempus program. 24 projects have been implemented at TSU since then.
