Memorandum of Cooperation
Students of Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University (TSU) will have an opportunity to undergo internships at the modern laboratory of U.S. Walter Reed Army Institute of Research (WRAIR). The relevant Memorandum of Cooperation was signed by TSU Rector Giorgi Sharvashidze, Dean of San Diego State University Georgia, Ken Walsh and Director of U.S. Army Medical Research Directorate-Georgia (USAMRD-G), Mark Hartell. Magda Magradze, CEO of Millennium Challenge Account – Georgia, representatives of academic circles and students also attended the event.
Rector Giorgi Sharvashidze said: “A lot of diverse activities have been planned between Walter Reed Army Institute of Research and our students, professors and researchers. Students will have an opportunity to take part in modern research at level 3 laboratory and I hope that this research will yield scientific results quite soon. We will have highly skilled students; moreover, our professors will have an opportunity to work in the environment that meets modern standards.”
Dean of San Diego State University Georgia, Ken Walsh said that the Memorandum will enable SDSU students to participate in modern researches and discoveries. Their works may also appear in international research publications that will ultimately promote students’ professional development, he added.
USAMRD-G Director Mark Hartell said that the Memorandum will help students get involved in modern research and prepare scientific works.
The Memorandum envisages the cooperation in the issues of scientific research and student internships. WRAIR remains the leader in developing and implementing scientific, technological, engineering and educational opportunities that is extremely important for career development in science. Students will get involved in clinical research technology and ongoing international researches.
