Book Presentation – “Mathematics, Informatics, and Their Applications in Natural Sciences and Engineering”

Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University (TSU) hosted a presentation of the book “Mathematics, Informatics, and Their Applications in Natural Sciences and Engineering” on March 6. The book was published by Springer in the Springer Proceedings in Mathematics and Statistics series. Rector of TSU, George Sharvashidze, professors and students attended the presentation.

“The book published by Springer is an important voluminous work, which has attracted high interest at a global level. The publication includes a lot of interesting materials and I hope that it will be useful not only for students, but for the academic personnel as well,” Rector Sharvashidze said.

George Jaiani (TSU Ilia Vekua Institute of Applied Mathematics, TSU Faculty of Exact and Natural Sciences) and David Natroshvili (TSU Ilia Vekua Institute of Applied Mathematics, Department of Mathematics of Georgian Technical University) have co-edited the book. The book involves a part of papers delivered at the 3rd international conference “Applications of Mathematics and Informatics in Natural Sciences and Engineering” held at TSU Ilia Vekua Institute of Applied Mathematics on December 6-9, 2017. The conference was dedicated to the 80th birthday of Georgian mathematician David Gordeziani, director of the Institute of Applied Mathematics in 1986-2006.

“I am pleased that the conference papers attracted huge interest from foreign scientists, also about the fact that Springer showed interest towards publishing the book. The book was published in the Springer Proceedings in Mathematics and Statistics series, which is issued since 2012; about 400 volumes have already been published. This series is indexed by Scopus. It is the first precedent, when the materials of the international conference held in Georgia were published in the Springer series,” Director of Ilia Vekua Institute of Applied Mathematics, George Jaiani said.

The book involves scientific papers of the representatives of nine countries (USA, Germany, Spain, Turkey, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, France and Georgia) and it is designed for researchers from various fields, who are interested in application of mathematics and informatics in natural sciences and engineering.
